Documentation

Everything you need to use ShareMyDocs effectively—requesting docs from clients, sending docs to clients, organization workflows, and security best practices.

User guide

1) Uploading documents

Add documents to your secure library so you can share them without email attachments. Keep your files organized and easy to find.

  • Choose a clear file name (avoid sensitive data in the filename).
  • Upload over a stable network for large PDFs or multiple files.
  • Confirm the upload completed before leaving the page.

2) Sharing (links & share codes)

Create a secure share link or share code to give someone access to the files you choose. You control the share lifecycle.

  • Expiration: Set a time limit for one-time or time-sensitive requests.
  • Scope: Share only what is needed, nothing more.
  • Revocation: Turn access off instantly if needed.

3) Revoking access

If a link is forwarded or no longer needed, revoke it. Revocation is immediate and prevents future access.

4) Best practices

  • Use expirations by default for sensitive workflows.
  • Revoke old links after a task is complete.
  • Prefer sharing links over sending attachments.
  • Keep audit history for regulated workflows.

Organization admin guide

For teams and organizations that request AND send documents: centralize document workflows, keep access controlled, and maintain audit trails — all without email attachments.

Request Docs (collecting from clients)

Use Request Docs to collect documents FROM clients without email attachments.

  • Create a request and send the link via email or SMS.
  • Clients upload with one click — no account needed.
  • Get notified instantly when documents arrive.
  • Download from your dashboard — documents auto-delete after use.

Send Docs (delivering to clients)

Use Send Docs to deliver documents TO clients without email attachments.

  • Upload the documents you need to send.
  • Enter recipient's email or phone number (SMS on Enterprise).
  • They receive a secure link — click to download instantly.
  • Documents auto-delete after they download — nothing in email.
  • Track when they access the documents from your dashboard.

Team access controls

  • Assign least-privilege roles (view-only vs manage).
  • Remove access when an employee changes roles or leaves.
  • Maintain audit history for accountability.

Why keep documents out of email?

Email attachments create cyber-risk for both you AND your clients:

  • Documents get scattered across inboxes, sent folders, and backups.
  • Forwarding creates copies you can't control or revoke.
  • Email servers become long-term storage for sensitive data.
  • Compliance becomes harder when documents are everywhere.

ShareMyDocs keeps documents out of email entirely — whether you're requesting them from clients or sending them. Both sides benefit from reduced risk and cleaner inboxes.

Planned API (optional)

If you plan to offer an API later, this is a good placeholder page to set expectations and collect interest.

  • Authentication & tokens
  • File ingestion endpoints
  • Webhook events (upload received, document downloaded, revoked)
